I liked Sundays the most because we didn't have work and today was Sunday!!! Every Sunday we would have breakfast and a ceremony. Today, we put the flag that we had gotten and painted up and pulled it up the flagpole. The flag was green and had a hoof and a horn painted in white. Snowball told us that the green resembled the green fields in England and that the horn and hoof represented the republic of animals that would rule above all the humans. after hanging up the flag, we would all head to the barn where we held our assembly that we called The Meeting. in the meetings we would talk over problems and vote on our ideas. At the end of every meeting, we would sing Beasts of England and then we would spend the rest of the afternoon doing recreational activities. One of my favorite things to do was to go to the harness room where I could study from books to learn necessary arts from the books that we found in the farmhouse. Snowball made a couple of things he called “Animal Committees” One was called the Egg production Committee which was for the hens, and he also created the Clean Tails League for the cows, Wild Comrades’ Re-education which helped tame the rabbits and rats, and the Whiter Wool Movement for the sheep. He also taught us how to read and write, even though most of us did not understand. Clover knew the whole alphabet, but couldn't get words together, Boxer -not being really bright- couldn't get past the letter “D” or else he would forget the first four letters. Mollie refused to learn any other letters than the ones that spelled her name, and the rest of the animals weren't smart enough to learn even the letter “A.”
The sheep, even though they could not learn the alphabet, they memorized the simplification of the seven commandments; “ Four legs good, two legs bad.” Napoleon did not like the idea of Snowball’s committees because he believed that the education of the young was more important than teaching the grown-up animals. The animals all finally figured out what happened to all the milk, it was mixed into our (the pigs) food and I was sent to the animals to try and explain to them why and at first they were not really convinced, but then I told them that the pigs all needed the milk to function our brains so that we wouldn't have to have Mr. Jones come back, they all agreed because nobody wanted Mr. Jones back
