As expected, the pigeons notified me when the farmers were coming. We had more than enough warning before the men came in through the gate. I ordered the animals to their positions. As the men were coming in near the farm buildings, I began with my harassing attacks involving the pigeons and the geese to distract and disorganize the humans. i then led a light general assault, using Muriel, Benjamin, Boxer, and the sheep Overall, this battle was a qualified success, we only suffered two casualties. Our first casualty was the sheep that was struck by the shotgun blast that grazed me. Our other casualty was Mollie. I had originally planned for her to help ambush the humans when we gathered in the cowshed, but she was later found to have fled to her stall after the first gunshot. I wonder where Napoleon was during all of this? I was proud of Boxer, he had fought magnificently, but he had expressed that he didn’t want to kill anybody. In the wake of the ambush, the men fled in panic and we harried them the rest of the way out. Within five minutes of their invasion, they were in full rout!
